So I wanna lose 20 lbs in one month and y'know thats incredibly far fetched, so I think I'm gonna try keto?? It's gonna be pretty difficult cause my dad is vegan so we eat a lot of high carb meals. I just dont really,,, know what to do?

Hi! Hope you don't mind a semi-long reply but I've actually been looking into keto myself since I can't seem to shake the 25lbs I've been trying to lose. I found a list of low carb veggies with the amount of carbs listed: link
And here's a list I found of a general "do's and don'ts" of what to eat: link Also, here's a video (it's pretty long but very informative) on how ketosis and fasting go hand in hand &more: linkBasically, I think you're supposed to not have more than 30-50g or so of carbs in order to get your body to feed off of its stored fat instead of glucose (carbs). Exercise speeds up the process. I was also looking into getting keto urine test strips to figure out if I'm in ketosis or not but learned from this thread on reddit that they only show whats coming out unused, not whats in your body. The accurate way would be to test your blood glucose levels but I'm not spending $30-50 on that... All of this to say: Carbs turn into Glucose, the more Glucose the more your body just stores the fat. Lower Carb intake (+exercise if you want) to use up the glucose your body is using for energy. Once you're out of glucose (this is starting to not sound like a real word anymore) then your body starts using fat for energy. But this can cause an electrolyte imbalance if you're losing too much water and sodium without replacing it and you'll end up retaining water weight+other symptoms like fatigue, headaches, and cramps. Helpful link for this here. That's all I've learned so far I think. Hope this was helpful and not annoying. Sorry, I'm just a huge nerd lmao.
